Ammouliani is the only inhabited island in Halkidiki. The population is approximately 550 people. It’s located between Sithonia and Athos, the second and third fingers on Halkidiki.

The island is known primarily for its beautiful sandy beaches, which can accommodate a total of 17,000 people. Alikes, Megali Amos, Karagatzi, St. George and Kalopigado and Banana are organized beaches.

Alikes Beach

Alikes, is the most famous beach, featuring three beach bars (Savannah, Big Fish and Amos), one restaurant (Metoxi), and two canteens, Joseph and Spiros. Savannah and Big Fish and Restaurant Metoxi have toilets and showers, the rest don’t. At Megali Amos there’s a restaurant with the same name, and a small beach bar. At St. George, there are restaurants Sarandos and Gripos, with their sun-beds and a beach bar. There is a canteen with its own sun-beds at Karagatzi, as well as at Kalopigado. Banana beach features a canteen, bar, sun-beds, showers and toilets. There are also plenty of small lagunas and unregulated beaches, such as Faka, Tsaska, Tratovoli, Turkolimano, Dei…

The village itself has three well-supplied grocery shops located on the main street (Prodos, Panagora and Arista). There are two doctor’s offices on the island. St. Nicholas Church is in the square, the pharmacy is on the main street near the ferry port, next to the amusement park. The small fish market is across the street from the pharmacy. Butcher’s shop is on the main street, across the street from Arista market. Fish restaurants Tzanis, Glaros, and Anemotrata are located in the village, Sarandos at St. George beach, Megali Amos at the same-name beach, and Metoxi at Alikes.

Pizza places are Giorgos, La Piazza and Modesto. There are also two fast food places with local street food, Sergiana and Elinaris. Cafes and shops with pancakes, ice creams, waffles, souvenirs, are situated at Promenada. Also, there are a couple of bakeries, with fresh pastries. The only real Greek place Pareaki Tou Pineza is located next to a children’s amusement park. This is not a typical tourist place, but it’s really charming, and we highly recommend it if you want to feel the real Greek atmosphere.
